Lahoz / Epinephelus aeneus
It is a fish species found in the eastern Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean and the Aegean Sea. It lives in rocky, stony or gravel areas at a depth of 20-200 m without going too deep. It is a very predatory, carnivorous fish. It feeds on all kinds of large and small crustaceans, invertebrates and small fish. It breeds between May and June. It is a close relative of the grouper fish.
Lark, a regional fish, also has a regional economic value. Although it is endangered, it was made available for commercial hunting in Türkiye in 1996.
They live an average of 50 years. They can reach a weight of 25 kilos and a height of 1.2m.
